This introductory bootcamp provides a practical overview of Independent Study for teachers, administrators, and support staff serving students in Independent Study and Charter School settings. The session explores why Independent Study exists, how it differs from traditional classroom models, and what educators need to understand about curriculum, grading, student engagement, and program expectations.
Led by experienced CCIS educators and leaders, the training also addresses key operational considerations, including California Ed Code, ADA, audit readiness, credentialing questions, acceptable use policies, and the importance of checking with local administrators, legal counsel, and auditors. Viewers will gain a realistic look at both the opportunities and challenges of Independent Study, with an emphasis on relationships, flexibility, student motivation, and sustainable work-life balance.
